Born Bruce Albert Baker in Hays Grove, Pennsylvania and raised mostly in Mt Holly Springs, Pennsylvania, both in Cumberland County. After he and his first wife, Mary Emma Lynn, moved to Nebraska, and eventually divorced in the early 1930's, he changed his name to Albert Bruce Baker. He had several children from his first marriage, claiming that Kenneth was from his wife's affair with his brother and not his offspring, however they had two more children together before the divorce. He was raising at least one of his sons (Bruce Calvin Baker) when he met and married Mary Jane (Vanek) Ossowski who was a widow also raising a young son (Alan "Gene" Ossowski). Together they lived in Idaho, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nebraska (again), Oregon and California and had four more children, the eldest of which was my father (Loren Dean Baker). Grandpa never had a birth certificate and his mother died when he was about 5 years old. The only known record of his birth was written in the family Bible which Grandpa's sister, Daisy, said had been destroyed in a house fire. When he applied for Social Security he had to get a letter from Daisy attesting to his date of birth. Thankfully things were less complicated back then. Grandpa's ashes are buried in the grave of his son ("Jerry") Sylvester Hoke Baker in Lincoln, Nebraska.
