Jerry Sanford Maness age 82 of Kingwood, TX passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home. Jerry was born on June 28, 1938 in Magnolia, Columbia County, AR to the late Gracie Arlene Dodson Maness and Samuel Edgar “Boss” Maness. Jerry was a native of Columbia County, AR and attended Magnolia High School where hegraduated in 1956. Jerry relocated to Houston to find work and to be near his older brothers. It was in Houston where he met the love of his life, Pat, and they were married in 1959.

Jerry was employed at Continental Can Company when he and Pat were first married. He is an alumni of The University of Houston and spent the bulk of his career at Wilson’s Business Products, where he was a top salesman, furnishing many of the downtown high rises and oil complexes built during Houston’s oil boom. Jerry later went on to serve as VP and Sales Manager for Apollo Paper Company. His family would like to express their gratitude to his former executive assistants Dana Ford, her sister Danelle, Sandy Ditka, and Trisha Hunt; along with lifelong friends and co-workers Paul Cluxton, Walter S. Bain, Jaimie Moritz, Mark Godbold, Mike Ruisinger, Brent Baker, and Ralph Reeves. Their loyal support and friendship throughout his career and retirement, as well as the fond memories, are greatly appreciated and will forever be cherished.

In his free time, Jerry loved to vacation with his friends and family in Destin, play golf, and fish with his closest friends. His family will always hold dear the memories of countless backyard fish fries, enjoying the spoils of his catch. Jerry was a lifelong member and supporter of the Coastal Conservation Association. Saltwater flowed through his veins, and his most peaceful moments were spent casting his rod in his waders. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor to all who crossed his path. Memories of his quick wit and sense of humor remind us all not to take life too seriously.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Samuel Anthony Maness; five brothers, Oziel Maness, U.T. “Hook” Maness, Merlin Maness, Leslie Maness and Don Maness; three sisters, Marion Watt, Margie Bryan, and Patsy Bailey.
