John Paul Zelinko, age 84, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St Vincent Medical Center. He was born on July 20, 1936 to the late Alexander and Susan (Motil) Zelinko in Allentown, Pennsylvania. John Paul was a career long employee of 35 years for the Standard Oil Company (and now known as BP), of Cleveland, Ohio as a Research Technician (1959-76) in Warrensville Hts., Ohio and as a Shift Supervisor of BP Refinery (1976-94) in Oregon, Ohio. John Paul was a dedicated life member of the Byzantine Catholic Church, from Hazelton (PA), Cleveland and to Oregon (OH). For nearly 40 years, he called "Bingo" at St. Michaels Event Center with help from Ann (wife), John David (son) and so many other friends and volunteers of the St. Michael Parish.

John Paul enjoyed Southern Fried Chicken smothered in gravy and halupki and pierogi's. He loved fishing from the Pocono Mountains of Wilkes-Barre, PA to the Allegheny foothills of Cuyahoga Valley and played rounds and rounds of golf, from Beaver Valley, PA to Chippewa with the BP buddies in Curtice, OH. John Paul cherished so many things: Little Debbie Cakes, John Wayne Movies,

Seinfeld, calling "Bingo", and the "Browns is the Browns". He hated mushrooms, cherries and horses that didn't "place or show", the Steelers and an ace on the bottom. John Paul enjoyed frequent travel for family vacations and work, throughout his life and with friends and relatives. He enjoyed his childhood in Hazelton, PA from charging 10 cents to entertain neighborhood kids with magic shows to building "soap box derby" cars. His brother, Alexander David, would always have to test drive along with a large scale model airplane that would glide on a rope line from the top of the house. His brother, as the test pilot, only stopped to run the idea by mom when John Paul made him a parachute.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ann; children, Joseph Zelinko, John David Zelinko, and James Zelinko; grandchildren, Alexander (Amanda) Zelinko, Chad Zelinko, Jamison Zelinko; great-grandchildren, Cayden Zelinko, Brooke, Aubrey, and Peyton; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dufala, Irene Szczepaniak; niece, Misti Zelinko; and many cousins from throughout Cleveland, Ohio and Philadelphia, Hazelton and Pocono, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Susan; and brother, Alexander David Zelinko.
