Bubbs rites will be held on Saturday
Veteran's funeral services to be conducted at Legion's Clubhouse

Funeral services for Charles L. Bubbs, 50, of 127 Delaware Street, leader in American Legion and State military affairs, who died in the Syracuse Memorial Hospital Wednesday night after a heart ailment of several months, will be conducted at the American Legion clubhouse, 643 West Onondaga Street, Saturday at 2 pm, by the Rev. Calvin M. Thompson, pastor of Delaware Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Bubbs served as distribution manager a large part of 28 years in which he was employed by the People's Ice Company. He was also vice president of the Absopure, Inc.
He was second lieutenant during the World War and served overseas as assistant finance officer of the 27th division. Before the war, he was a member of the old Third New York Infantry and was battalion sergeant-major under Col. John B. Tuck. He was a member of that unit when it became the 27th division.
Bubbs was a charter member of Wilfred W. Porter, Jr., Post. American Legion, one of the posts which combined in 1922 to form Syracuse Post 41, treasurer, adjutant and vice president of the post, past county commander and also had held office in the 40 and 8.
He was treasurer of the American Legion Holding Corporation since it was organized and was selected for his second term as president of the American Legion Bowling Association last April.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Tressa Bubbs, and his mother, Mrs. John Sawmiller.
