Johann Heinrich Kleckham, known as Henry, was born in Germany in 1745. In 1751, when he was seven years old, his mother, Maria Margaretha Gerls, died. The following year, his father, Johann Conrad Kleckham, remarried to Anna Elizabeth Lutzen. In 1753, the Kleckham's, including Henry's sisters Charlotte and Christina Elizabeth, sailed from Germany to America on the Good Hope.

After arriving in America, Anna Elizabeth (Lutzen) and Johann Conrad Kleckham had another eight children together bringing the total number of children to eleven (two from Maria and nine from Anna). In America, they changed their last name from Kleckham to Claycomb.

Henry married Elizabeth (last name unknown), and they had at least the following five children;

1) Conrad (1776-1861) married Elizabeth Ridenour, Anna Mock, and Nancy Heckman.
2) Henry Jr. (1779-1849) married Susan Hully.
3) Margaret (1789-1864) married James Tomson.
4) Dolly (1780-1848) married John Burk.
5) Christena (1784-1851) married Jacob Imler.

Two other children (Frederick and Mary) have been attributed to them although no supporting evidence has been found.

Henry died at the age of 75 In Bedford County, Pennsylvania and is believed to be buried in the Old Union Cemetery. A headstone has yet to be found and may no longer exist.
