Alan was an honest, hard working, and generous businessman. He owned Shoffeitt Termite Control in Inglewood, CA. He ran a 100-acre farm in the beautiful, but frigid, town of Brownington, VT. He headed south to Franklin, NC to grow the City Motel into Days Inn and then sold that. He had beautiful apartment complexes full of lovely tenants. Alan came from a large family and carried on that tradition with his wife, Alpha Kaufman & daughters: Angel (Joe Gorka), Shannon (Tom VonKaenel), Heather (Jody Krueger), Sara (John Mascarro) & Amy Shoffeitt. He had so much fun making memories with his 16 grandchildren: Joey, David, Jonathan, Savannah, Thomas, Luke, Matthew, Grace, Kellie, Hannah, Megan, Jebediah, Olivia, Josiah, Jacob & Kaiana. We remember him as a Great Story Teller, History Buff, Metal Detector, Bottle Digger, Winner of Card Games, Maple Furniture Maker, Seeker of real good Mexican Restaurants, and Biggest Fan of his wife's fried chicken & gravy. His advice to all was: Always be honest...and...If you're worried about it, pray about it. He also enjoyed history so here is his:
Born in Los Angeles, CA he was the son of the late Harland "Al" Shoffeitt and Maymie Barnes Shoffeitt. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Lowell, John "Jackie" & a sister, Margaret "Peggy" McKinney. His sister Muriel Collup & brothers Donald & Rex survive him. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved. There's a Bible verse that honors him: Proverbs 20:7 "Children are fortunate if they have a father who is honest and does what is right." We love & miss you.
