Funeral services for Wm. T. Cramer, who passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Sarah Richmond, March 31, 1936, were held at the Tretheway Funeral Home in Princeville, in charge of Rev. Thomas A. Stamp, pastor of the Dunlap Presbyterian Church. Six of his friends bore him to his final resting place in Prospect Cemetery north of Dunlap. They were: Percy Bennett, Everett Carr, Jay Fry of Alta, Bert Hawley, Sr., George Sammis of Peoria and Sumner Smith of Princeville.
William Thomas Cramer son of George F. and Margaret Artman Cramer, was born January 16, 1863, at the Cramer homestead, a mile north of Alta where he spent practically his entire life. He was the only son and the youngest child of a family of eight children, two of whom survive; Mrs. Eliza Case of Champaign and Mrs. Sarah Richmond of Dunlap.
Julia and Louisa died in childhood. Other sisters preceding him in death were; Mrs. Melvina Pollock, Miss Mary Cramer and Mrs. Ada Wescott.
He was a regular attendant and an interested helper in the Methodist and later the Presbyterian church of Alta. He was converted in 1896 and served as a trustee in the Presbyterian church, of which his mother was a charter member.
He was honest, conscientious and kind-hearted. He found his greatest happiness in helping others. Few but the recipients knew of many generous acts on his part. Throughout his life any whom he knew to be in need were substantially helped.
He had not been in good health for several years and had been seriously ill for the past three months. During the last six weeks, he had been cared for in the home of his siters, Mrs. Sarah Richmond where he died March 31, at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 15 days.
