Robert Jerome Campbell, 75, a retired farmer of Alta, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vernon Johnson, in Peoria, following a prolonged illness.
Born in Alta, November 6, 1874, he was the son of Elliott and Clara Case Campbell and was a lifelong resident of the Alta community. He attended Knox college and was united in marriage to Pearl Dempsey in Alta October 2, 1900.
For many years Mr. Campbell framed south of Alta, coming to Peoria six years ago with Mrs. Campbell to make their home with their daughter. Mrs. Campbell died in 1946.
Mr. Campbell was a member of the Alta Presbyterian church, a former member of Alta Grange and the Peoria County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by a daughter, Mts. Vernon Johns of Peoria; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Keller of Alta and Mrs. Edwin Mueller of Peoria; and one brother Fred Campbell of Alta. He was preceded in by his wife and a brother Walter.
Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon in the Clugsten Memorial home in Peoria with Rev. E. L. Fernandes of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian church officiating. Interment was in Prospect cemetery near Dunlap.
