Gertie H. Thibodeaux, age 85, the former Gertie Hernandez, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 6:10 a.m. at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Lafayette. Mrs. Thibodeaux was born and raised in Judice and moved to Grand Coteau in 1945 when she married. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was extremely friendly and never met a stranger. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include one son, Walburn James "Tiny" Thibodeaux and his wife, Shirley, of Sunset; two daughters, Jeanette T. Cloud of Lafayette, and Mary Ann Matte and her husband, Gene, of Sunset; five grandchildren, Don Thibodeaux, Jennifer Boudreaux, Crystal Compos, Joey Thibodeaux, and Heather Matte; seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Elvin Thibodeaux; her parents, Andrew Hernandez and the former Edith Roy; three brothers, Clovis Hernandez, Hushville Hernandez, Lloyd Hernandez and Romain Hernandez; and four sisters, Bernice Hernandez, Hilda Morgan, Agnes Simon and Inez H. Breaux.
