Barbara Ann Detar, age 83 of Adamsburg, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Saint Anne Home in Greensburg.

She was born December 26, 1937 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Violet Oplinger Fyock.

Barbara was a graduate of Jeannette High School, class of 1955. After high school, she went on to become a waitress at the Village Inn for over thirty years. She enjoyed bowling, going to casinos and playing bingo every Friday with her sister which she took very seriously. Barbara was a good cook, baker and decorator of her grandchildren’s birthday cakes. She always had freshly baked cookies, brownies and fudge in her home and made sure her children and grandchildren left her home full. She liked to travel and visited places such as: Las Vegas, Nevada, Atlantic City, New Jersey and Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her husband. She also had a camp at Lake Colyer, Centre County near State College, that she went to ever since she was a child.

She is preceded in death by her mother; her loving husband of forty-four years, Leslie D. Detar; loving grandparents, George and Sarah Oplinger; two sisters, Susan Harrity and Natalie Miller; and one brother, William Davis.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Kunkle and her husband, Timothy of Greensburg; two sons, Rick Detar of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and James L. Detar of Dover, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Nathan Fyock of North Carolina and Timothy Fyock and his wife, Mara of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Georgia Taylor of Florida and Virginia Mallory of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc., Route 136, Madison, Sewickley Township. Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor-Funeral Director.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Brush Creek Cemetery with Pastor Elaine Frantz officiating.
