Mr. Spangler lived in Abilene, KS along with his brother John. He moved to Kansas City, MO around 1903 where his occupation was listed as a painter.
He served as a juror on the third trial of Dr. Bennett C. Hyde in Kansas City, MO in 1913. The result of the trial was a hung jury. Mr. Spangler collected his jury pay and set out to celebrate the end of jury duty with a night on the town. He was found the next morning, robbed and badly beaten, lying in the road. He died a few days later. His killer never found.
