Crystal Rosa Rust

January 21, 1905 – February 18, 2006

Mrs. Crystal Rosa Rust of Ledbetter, passed away on February 18, 2006 at St. Mark's Medical Center in LaGrange. She was 101 years of age. Rev. John Davis and Rev. Robert Tiner conducted funeral services on February 21, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment was in Giddings City Cemetery.

She was born in Smithville on January 21, 1905 to Adolph and Rosa Lincke Etzel. She and Reuben Rust were married on May 1, 1927 at Richland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manor, Texas. She was a homemaker and taught school at Frelsburg and Prospect Schools. She received her Teaching Certificate from Southwest Texas State University. She ran the family store in Ledbetter selling eggs and Watkins products from the early 1950's until the 1990's. She enjoyed reading, writing family histories and simplifying Texas History stories for children.

Her husband, Reuben, preceded her in death in 1980. Her parents, 4 brothers, Clifton, Lee, Howard and infant brother Etzel, and her sister, Alice Etzel Cook also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Travis Eugene Rust of Ledbetter, daughter and son-in-law, Lois and William Rogers of Lake Wales, FL; 4 grandsons, Terry and Laura Rogers of Clarksville, GA, Bradley and Jean Rogers of Alpharetta, GA, Gary and Amy Rogers of West Melbourne, FL and Forrest Rogers of Munchen, Germany; 9 great grandchildren: William and Bradley Rogers of Clarksville, Lindsey Rhodes of Atlanta, GA, Nathan Rhodes of Cornelia, GA, Andrew Rogers and Sara Rogers of Alpharetta, Morgan and Nicolas Rogers of West Melbourne, FL.
