WASHINGTON CITY, Sept. 15, 1840
The decease of the late venerable Abraham Howard Quincy has produced quite a sensation in this city. He was a clerk in the navy department; and one of the few among us who had witnessed the celebrated battle of Bunker Hill; he was an honest man, his life devoted to the promotion of christian philanthropy, and his heart and hand ever open to the wants of the distressed. His remains were interred in the Congress burial ground yesterday, followed by the masonic fraternity, and a large concourse of his associates in office and fellow citizens. (The Baltimore Sun, Maryland, 17 Sep 1840, p1)
