Ellen (Moody) Cunningham was born on December 7, 1928, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Elmer & Dorothy Moody. She had two brothers, Elmer, Jr., and William, and one sister, Dorothy L. She married Carl "Tuffy" Cunningham on August 24, 1943 and raised three daughters, Judy Breshears, Evon Siegel and Debbie Cunningham, and one son, Lester Lee "George" Cunningham. Ellen passed peacefully in Austin, Texas, on January 8, 2021, while holding her granddaughter (also primary caregiver), Tressa Abschneider's hand, as church bells rang in the background - another angel got her wings! She is survived by her loving family of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends who will always cherish her memory and fun stories about her. In her previous years living in Oklahoma and married to her truck-driving, quick witted, story telling husband, she rode in the cab with her beloved dog, Shadrack, and loved traveling all over this beautiful country. Later she ran her son, George's numerous clubs. She kept the books, did payroll and went in every weekend after the bands quit playing from 2 to 6 a.m., counting cash and taking the deposit to the bank, all 4'10" of her, with her pistol lying next to her in the car (like she would ever use it!). She was respected by all and known as Mrs. C. She once made chili for Cheap Trick and her music of choice was hard-core hip hop and rock and roll. Caring for people and pets was a theme throughout her life; in her final years, Casper, Debbie's dog, was her greatest joy. She was the ENERGIZER BUNNY to the end. Love you, Mrs. C! We will have a beautiful memorial service celebrating our mother's life when the world is safe again, hopefully sometime in 2021.
