Owen R. Whitley, 71, of Rt. 1, Knightdale, died Wednesday in Rex Hospital. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Knightdale Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack A. Painter and the Rev. Allen Laymon. Burial will be in Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lessie W. Whitley; five sons, Robert E. of Garner, Billie H. of Greensboro, Dwight A. of Knightdale, Lawrence A. of Raleigh and Ervin Whitley of Clayton; six daughters, Mrs. Thera W. Chapin of Santa Anna, Calif., Mrs. Margarey W. Oglesby of Mettor, Ga., Mrs. Velma W. Snipes of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Arthelia W. Whitley and Mrs. Carolyn W. Hinton both of Raleigh, and Mrs. Sandra W. Massey of Knightdale; three sisters, Mrs. Hassie W. Markham of Greensboro, Mrs. Lillie W. Creech of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Banola W. Johnson of Wendell; 24 grandchildren.
