Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Merrell and William L. Cheek, Sr.
Mr. Cheek was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Greenville. After graduation from Greenville High School, he attended Furman University and the University of Georgia. An Army Veteran of World War II, Bill enjoyed a career as an Air Traffic Controller and was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by two daughters: Debbie Coleman (William), Penny Ammons (Chris Garon); four grandchildren: Matthew Coleman (Amber), Lindsay Ammons, Kate Coleman, and Morgan Ammons; two sisters: Erlene Nichols and Anne King.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, no services will be held at this time. When it is safe to gather again, a Celebration of Bill's life will be planned. At that time, he will be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Rachel.
