Mrs. Patsy Ruth Francis Allen James, age 82, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. James was born April 28, 1935 in Surry County to John Hope and Ruby Mae Byrd Francis.
Mrs. James attended High Point College and retired from Mutual Savings and Loan (presently BB&T) and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elkin. Mrs. James was also a past member of UMU Circle, the Book Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Marion Allen, Jr.
Survivors include, her husband, Tom James of the home, a son, William Marion Allen, III of Clemmons, three daughters, Diane Francis Allen Key Rogers and her husband Dave of Las Vegas, Cynthia Ann Allen Harvey and her husband Tom of Greenville, NC, Patricia Leigh Allen Grider and her husband Glen of Elkin, a brother, David Lee Francis and wife Betty of Charlotte, nine grandchildren, Michael Glenn Key and wife Amanda of Iowa City, Matthew Collin Key and wife Tam of Las Vegas, Jonathan Forest Key and fiancée Kelly of Las Vegas, Christopher Ryan Harvey of Raleigh, Emily Hope Harvey of Greenville, Ryan Hanes Grider of Charlotte, Claire Elizabeth Grider of Elkin, Paul Michael Grider of Elkin, Taylor Gray Allen and wife Sarah of Atlanta, two great grandchildren, Emma Key of Las Vegas, Ezra Key of Iowa City, a step-son, Tom James and wife Ellen of Ronda, a step-daughter, Ann James Brito of Raleigh, two cousins, Larry Francis of Elkin, Lori Edwards of Urbana, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Elkin with Rev. Mike Shuford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive Elkin, NC 28621 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
