Lilly Beatrice Sweeney
October 27, 1912 – April 20, 1913

Born in Tobar, Elko, NV(a few miles S of Wells).

The following is from Marshall E. Bowen:
April 21, 1913: Salt Lake Tribune death notice for Lilly Sweeney: "April 20, 1913. Lilly B. Sweeney, beloved daughter of T.J. and Florence Sweeney, aged 5 months and 23 days. Body was shipped last evening from O'Donnel & Co.'s parlors to Tobar, Nev., for interment" (Salt Lake Tribune, April 21, 1913, p. 11). She is buried in the Old Clover Valley Cemetery (Old Clover Valley grave marker; Clover Valley Cemetery (South) records).

Information from death certificate follows: Lilly was born in Nevada on Oct. 27, 1912, the daughter of T.J. Sweeney, a native of New York state, and the former Florence Huntsman, a native of Utah. She died in SLC on April 20, 1912. Her home, until 4 days ago, was Tobar, Nevada. Samuel Allen, M.D., who filled out the death certificate, began treating her on April 17, and last saw her alive on April 19. The cause of her death was bronchial pneumonia. Sweeney gives his address as the Garden Hotel in Salt Lake City, and it was at the Garden Hotel where Lilly died. She will be buried at Tobar (Utah Death Certificate).
{Apparently Lilly became so ill that Tom, and perhaps Florence, brought her to Salt Lake City, checked into the Garden Hotel, and sought the care of Dr. Allen for her. There is no evidence that she was hospitalized before her death at the hotel.]
