JOY LAVELLI (Wright) was born July 15, 1924 in Lakewood, OH the loving daughter of Frank and Mabel Wright and sister of Frank (all deceased).

She graduated from Brecksville High School and Denison University after which she participated in the Miss America pageant and was a finalist.

Married in 1949 she was the devoted wife of Dante Lavelli (deceased), Cleveland sports legend with whom she had three children. The beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend led an active life that included studying graduate education at CWRU, earning a realtor's license and working as a beauty consultant. She was a member of Sleepy Hollow and Avon Oaks Country Clubs where she enjoyed golf. Throughout her years she investigated new areas of interest and celebrated life with family and friends. She was a member of St. Christopher Parish and a community volunteer especially with Meals on Wheels, Providence House and the Epilepsy Foundation.

She is survived by her children Lucinda Lavelli of Gainesville, Fl., Edward Lavelli of Cleveland and Lisa Lavelli Bill (Matthew) of Rocky River; grandchildren, Aaron (Teresa), Noah (Marissa Schultz), Luke Bill, Danielle Lavelli and, niece Michelle Swetland (Ron) and nephew Michael Voll (Libby).

Passed away Monday, March 12, 2018. All services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Joy be made to the Dante B. and Joy W. Lavelli Academic Athletic Scholarship at the Akron Community Foundation (akroncf.org), 345 West Cedar St., Akron, OH 44307.
