Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 10, at 9:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary, with a Memorial service following at 10:30 a.m., at Stine Road Baptist Church, 3001 Stine Road, for Fern B. Jones. Fern was a resident of Bakersfield over 40 years serving the public in many restaurants including Hill House and Freddie's Skyway House. She was a long-term active member of Stine Road Baptist Church, and was admired for her always lovely style and tasty cooking. Fern was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold; sons, Jimmie and David; and grandson, John. She leaves behind son, Dannie Jones; daughter, Gina Castillo; 10 grandchildren; special niece, Janet; many extended family members and a host of long-term friends. We were blessed to have such a loving and supportive Mom. Your bravery and strength are deeply admired. We are happy you are with God and at peace even as our hearts break with losing you. We will love and miss you always. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, her church family and the staff at the Heart Hospital for all the love, tender care and support given to our Mom and to ourselves.
