William “Bill” Duncan Pollard Sr., 86, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday May 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Pollard; his twin brother, Charles E. Pollard Jr.; and sister, Anne Pollard Anderson. Bill served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a proud Alumni of Virginia Tech, where he was on the tennis team and was a cheerleader. Bill was a professional engineer and was retired from Commonwealth Gas after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Bill was a longtime member of the Country Club of Petersburg where he was an avid golfer and tennis player. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Brooker Pollard; sons, William “Bebo” D. Pollard Jr. (Lou), Thomas “Tom” B. Pollard (Susan); grandchildren, Connor, Justin, and Betsy Pollard; and other extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church 225 Claremont Street, Petersburg, VA. 23805. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home.
