Abraham Blancas Esparza
JUNE 18, 1959 – JANUARY 5, 2021

Abraham “Abel” Blancas Esparza, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 following his battle with cancer at the age of 61. Abel was surrounded by his wife and children at his home in Fresno, California. While we are grieving at the passing of our beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, we celebrate his homegoing to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Abel was born on June 18, 1959 in Fresno, California, where he remained his entire life. He attended Fresno High School and worked as a truck driver for 25 years. While he experienced many areas within the truck driving industry from local transport to long distance hauling, he planted much of his truck driving career working for Advanced Drainage Systems of Madera, California and later, Liquid and Bulk Dispatch Trucking Company that led to his retirement in November, 2016. Throughout his life, Abel enjoyed the sport of baseball and was a fan to all teams however, favored the San Francisco Giants. His joy stemmed from his adolescent years of playing baseball, and then later enjoyed following statistics of all Major League Baseball teams and players—some of his favorites were Carl Hubbell, Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, and Babe Ruth. Abel was devoted to providing for his family, and truly embodied strong work ethic and dedication. His character and sense of humor is what most people will remember. Abel had a way with lighting up a room and found a way to bring laughter into every situation—even up to his final moments with his family, he brought joy to their hearts and provided peace. He is survived by Sylvia Pasos Esparza, his beloved wife of 44 years; his children, Marisa Esparza and her significant other, Rudy Nuno, Ramona Esparza and her significant other, Arshavir Postachyan, Josie Vargas and her husband Dennis, and Abraham “Sunny” Esparza; his 10 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; his mother, Ramona Vasquez; his siblings, Rey Esparza, Manuel Esparza, Yolanda Esparza, Natalie Bravo, Brian Esparza, David Esparza, Richard Vasquez, Virginia Higuera, and Stephanie Aguilera. He is preceded in death by his father, Reymundo Esparza and godson, Robert Aguilera. A Celebration of Life for Abel Esparza will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns and Blair Funeral Home, with Officiation by Pastor Jim Franklin. A Graveside Service will follow at Clovis Cemetery. Due to covid restrictions, these are private events and in person guests are limited to immediate family only. Live stream options will be available for viewing.
