John R. Long married Rosetta Iris McKinney Rosetta I. McKinney on 11 July 1886 in Dublin, Erath County, Texas, according to the Marriage Record recorded in Erath County, Texas. The marriage was also recorded in the Samuel Guy Warford family Bible, Grandfather of Rosetta Iris McKinney.
John and Rosetta Long's first child, John Daniel Long's birth was also recorded in the Warford family Bible.
John R. Long changed the family surname from Long to Brown about 1890. He called himself Jackson M. Brown and was buried under that name. Rosetta and John Daniel changed their surnames to Brown and were buried under that surname.
Rosetta and Jackson Long/Brown had seven children, John Daniel Long/Brown who married Vida Chapman, Mary M. Brown, Beatrice Brown who married Clayton Pierce, Lela Model Brown who married first Cloud Casper Hague, second Mr. Watkins, Dorcas Elizabeth Brown who married first James Turner Jones, Sr, second Dr. W.
