As per A.E. Alexander's obituary he served in the regular Confederate Army during the Civil War.
The Alexanders lived in the same area (Coles/Cumberland Co.) in Illinois as the John Hensley family prior to both families migrating to MO.James Martin Hensley (Fairview Cemetery) served with the Mo. State Guard during the war. He fought against the Union army during what is known as the Battle of the Hemp Bales in Lexington,Mo. in 1861 following which he went south with Gen. Sterling Price's army.Hardin H. Dillinger (Owasco Cemetery) joined at the same time and place and served with James Martin Hensley. (Information from the History of Sullivan Co. and also from the Mo.
