Lois Mecham Farney of Cedar City, Utah
May 5, 1937 - January 6, 2021 (age 83)
Lois (Mecham) Farney, age 83, has gone to be in the arms of the Savior this day 6 January 2021. Born 5 May 1937 in Salina, Utah, Lois was the oldest child of Max LaThell and Arlene (Gray) Mecham. A graduate of Cedar City High School, Lois cherished the many friends she made and held them close through her life. Lois was employed at Cedar City Medical Center where she loved the people she worked with and made lifelong friends. Lois was married to James Barlow with whom she had four children, later divorced. Lois later married the love of her life Howard Farney. Howard and Lois traveled to many places and loved making improvements to their home. Lois was a wonderful mother and sacrificed much in her life to insure her children were safe and loved. She loved to laugh, swim, practice yoga and dance and sing when no one was looking.
Surviving are her four children: Rick James (Vicki) Barlow; Laura Lee (Marvin) Kelsey; Rebecca Ann (Tim) Bingaman; and Darlene (William) Horton; two brothers: Paul (Peggy) Mecham, and Wain (Patty) Mecham; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by James Barlow, her husband Howard Farney, a sister, and her brother LaThell Gray Mecham.
During the last two years Lois resided at Brookdale Cedar City Assisted Living and Memory Care Center. The family would like to thank the staff for their care and devotion in the care of their mother. Until we meet again Mom you are always with us.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. www.sumortuary.com
