Burial was in the Princeville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Raymond Brown, Floyd Brown, Benton Allen, Charles Heller, John Holmes and Linus Aldrich, all of the Alta Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Pierce, a well-known retired farmer, passed away in the Methodist Hospital Friday morning after a long illness. He was born in Princeville Township July 17, 1878, a son of Theodore and Agatha Harrison Pierce.
He was united in marriage to Miss Harriet Beal in Princeville June 1, 1904. Following their marriage the Pierces lived in the Alta vicinity until 1918. They then moved south of Princeville on the Harrison farm. Six years later they moved to their own farm on the Jubilee Road. Thirteen years ago, the Pierces came to Princeville to live.
The Pierces have been faithful custodians in the Methodist church for the past several years. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Alta Masonic Lodge for 48 years and the Union Grove Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Princeville.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Lowell, one grandson, Freddie Pierce, five brothers, Howard of Princeville, Hanford of Galesburg, Robert of Peoria, Fremont of Galva, and Homer of Alta; three sisters, Mrs. Lilllie Carr of Princeville, Mrs. Mabel Alldredge of Peoria and Mrs. Grace Peterson of Galva; and a host of other relatives and friends.
