Dorothy was born at Portland, Conn., Aug 8, 1875, her parents being Lucius P. Stewart and Josephine Rathbun Stewart, both of old Connecticut families.
The Stewart family came to San Bernardino in 1893. A little later they moved to Bryn Mawr, where on Dec 27, 1900, Dorothy married Norman B Hinckley, manager of the Bryn Mawr Fruit Growers' association.
Mrs Hinckley was a member of the First Congregational church of Redlands and for many years was superintendent of the primary Sunday school. She was also a member of the Contemporary club, of the Delphian society and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Hinckley brought into everything she did an enthusiastic and vivid personality. She was especially interested in gardening and floral decoration.
She leaves a husband and four children, Stewart, Frances, Norman and Ruth; also a sister Mrs. R. M. Wilcox of Long Beach, who formaerly taught in the San Bernardino schools, and a brother, J. H. Stewart, of Bryn Mawr.
Flavia Dorothy (Stewart) Hinckley was the Proud Descendant of Revolutionary War Patriot Daniel Stewart CT CAPT.
Dorothy was a Charter Member of the Arrowhead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
