William Lannes Southwick
LEXINGTON-William Lannes Southwick, 72, of 15 Darby Drive died Saturday morning in University Hospitals after a short illness.
Mr. Southwick was born April 12, 1920 in Mayfield Township, Cuyahoga County, to John A. and Nellie Ball Southwick, both now deceased. He moved to Lexington in 1968 from Muncie, Ind.
He was a Army Air Corps captain and pilot in World War II, and retired in 1985 after nearly 50 years as a service representative for National Cash Register. He was a member of the Lexington Baptist Church, where he was active as head usher, adult Sunday school teacher and a member of the church board. He also was a member of the Mansfield Electronic Flyers.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel H. Massengille Cain Southwick, whom he married July 14, 1973; two daughters, Barbara White of Zanesville and Candace Yeager of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter and son in law, Linda and Tom Morse of Denver; three sons and daughter in laws, Chris and Elaine Southwick of Columbus, Brand and Terry Southwick of Muncie, Ind., and Randolph and Barbara Southwick of Delaware; two step daughters and step sons in law, Connie and Don Hickle of Cambridge and Kathleen and David Cronebaugh of Ontario; a step daughter, Joan Hatheway of Lexington; 13 grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon White, Amanda Yeager, Lydia, Jared, Amiee, Austin, Michael and Allison Southwick, Erick Hickle, Shannon and Adrienne Hale and Whitney Hatheway; a sister Hazel Tambascio of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and two brothers, Frank Southwick of Lehigh Acres and Forrest Southwick of Wickliffe.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Houswald Southwick, and a brother, Albert Southwick.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Donnell Smith, his pastor. Burial will be in Whitehaven Cemetery at Mayfield Village on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
