He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Eureka, Ill., to Jasper H. and Rena Elena Warnkes Johnson. Wilferd married Marie Good on May 17, 1974, in Peoria. She survives.
He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific and European Theater.
Wilferd was employed as a mechanic for the Mount Hawley Airport and later for Peoria Charter Coach, where he worked for several years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Tony E. (Margaret) Doxsie and Gayla Y. (John) Gilhooly, both of Peoria; several stepgrandchildren; and a nephew, Donald V. (Susan) Hicks of Stanley, Kan.
Wilferd was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Donna Curless; and a sister, Verneal Reeves.
Private interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
