John Andes, a retired farmer, died at his home at the Amberly neighborhood at half-past 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. His death was due to consumption and heart trouble. He had only been confined to his bed about one week, but had been in failing health for several years.

Mr. Andes was a native of the Amberly neighborhood, where he was born about 65 years ago. He went West many years ago, where he became a resident of Iowa but returned to this county seven or eight years ago and had made his home ever since near Amberly. He was twice married. His first wife was a Miss Nisewander. His second wife, who survives him, was Miss Sallie Miller. In addition to his wife he leaves four sons: Frederick, who lives at home; Samuel and Isaac, of Iowa; and Charles, who is a resident of Canada. He also leaves two brothers: Jacob Andes, of Augusta County; and Perry Andes, who lives in the West and three sisters Mrs. David Benneman and Mrs. Cromer, of Augusta County; and Mrs. Jones, whose home is in the West.
