Ira married second, Minerva A. Thomas (1829-1880), daughter of Rowland and Abigail (Brown) Thomas of Chazy, NY, per Allen Stratton's History of Isle la Motte, Vermont (1984).∼He was a man of great initiative, ingenuity and energy primarily in numerous business enterprises, also a successful farmer and fruit grower. After his father (Caleb Hill) was shot and killed, he became the head of the household and helped his mother raise twelve children.
