Hannah was the 4th child (of 7) of parents Samuel Ford (1709-1752) and his wife Sarah (Baldwin) Ford Boyle (1707-1787). Hannah was named after her mother's sister Hannah (Baldwin) Ford who was married to Col. Jacob Ford, Hannah's paternal uncle (brother to her father Samuel Ford). Two brothers married two sisters. Hannah's mother Sarah then remarried to widower Solomon Boyle after being widowed by Samuel Ford. Hannah's parents are both buried in this same churchyard cemetery as Hannah.

Hannah married Major Joseph Morris on April 12, 1759 at this same First Presbyterian Church in Morristown, New Jersey. The marriage produced one son Dr. Jonathan Morris (1760-1810). Hannah was widowed early as the result of her husband's service as an officer in the Continental Army in the American Revolution. Her husband was shot on December 6, 1777 at White Marsh and died a month later from his injuries.
