JAMES T. AINSWORTH
featured in
CHAMBERS COUNTY,TEXAS in the War Between the States by Kevin Ladd(1954-2014):
James T. Ainsworth was born in 1817 in Kentucky and moved to Texas about 1855. Three years later he settled in Chambers County. Ainsworth served in Company F of Spaight's Battalion, Texas Mounted Volunteers, serving under Captain William B. Duncan of Liberty County. Ainsworth joined the company in September 1862, having been furnished by Benjamin Franklin Barrow as his substitute. Records maintained by Captain Duncan refer to Ainsworth as a native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Duncan refers to him as being a little over five feet, nine inches tall with dark complexion, black eyes and brown hair. He may possibly be the same individual as the JT Ainsworth who appears on the 1860 Census of Chambers County with a wife Caroline and several children. No additional information is presently available on Mr. Ainsworth's life.
