Alma Ennis Bowden, 93, long-time Mount Olive resident, went to be with Jesus Tuesday evening, December 29, 2020.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 3, at 12:30 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose and the Rev. David Hawes, followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will have visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, January 2, from 7 until 8 p.m. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to Bear Marsh Church, c/o Timmy Bell, 368 Jones-Turner Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

Mrs. Bowden was the oldest living member of Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late John Garland Ennis and Mary Carter Ennis. She had been married to Willie Carl Bowden who preceded her to his heavenly reward. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Merline Riese and Maxine Taylor, twin brother, Lewis Alvin "Dick" Ennis, and brother, James Ennis.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia B. Hawes and husband, Dennis, of Henrico, Va.; a son, Roger Bowden and wife, Vickie, of Mint Hill, NC; seven grandchildren, David Hawes, Jason Hawes, Tanya Halley, Amy Cooke, Heather Evans, Amanda Van De Velde, and James Carl Bowden; a brother, Richard Ennis and wife, Toni, of Mebane, NC; a sister, Pearline Duranski of Durham, NC; and a sister-in-law, Jane Ennis, also of Durham. She had 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
