A Good Man Gone
On March 5th, 1927, the Death Angel visited us and took from our midst William H. Willbanks, after a short attack of Neuralgia of the heart. "Daddy," as he was commonly known to us all, was born in Greenville Dist, South Carolina, Oct. 5, 1842, his parents coming to Cherokee County, Ga., in 1850, where he was raised to manhood. In 1861 he was married to Sarah F. Hillhouse, to which union were born 10 children, 3 girls and 7 boys.
He was a veteran of the Southern Confederacy, and served three years. He went to Texas from Georgia in 1874, living there one year, and then came to Arkansas, coming through with an ox team, settling in Marion County, on Spring Creek, where he raised his family. His wife preceded him to Glory Land 8 years ago, and was laid to rest in the Pontiac cemetery.
"Daddy" professed faith in Christ in early life and united with the Missionary Baptist Church, and lived a consistent member of the same until death. He was laid to rest in the Pontiac cemetery beside his beloved companion.
"Daddy" had 45 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, making his offspring even 100. He was beloved by all who knew him. He always had kind words for everybody, and none knew him but to love him. He is gone, but not forgotten.
His life is o'er,
His work is done;
His toils are past,
The victory won.
