Adele G. Parker, most affectionately known as “Baby” was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on August 20, 1921. She grew up on Effingham Street two doors down from Fisher Funeral Home with her Mother, Irma A. Jackson, and her uncle Dr. E. H. Adams, her siblings, John Jackson, Leon Jackson, Adams Jackson, and sister Irma Wigington. She was a proud graduate of I. C. Norcom High School.

Adele moved to Boston, Massachusetts and worked at the Polaroid Camera Corporation from its beginning in 1948 as a lab tech until her retirement in 1983, she returned home to Portsmouth to care for her mother.

Adele was an active lifetime member of Zion Baptist Church, she held positions such as Secretary, and Treasurer and was involved with many missionary organizations within the church. She loved to travel, socialize, and take MANY pictures.

She is survived by her only daughter Brenda Jackson-Banks, her devoted and much loved son-in-law William Banks, her niece Celestyne Cook (Medford, MA), Sijara Pecot (Compton, CA), niece and her nephews John (Buster Jackson, Jr. of (Newport News, VA), and Leon Jackson, Jr. (Fort Lauderdale Florida).

“Baby” is the last of the Adams – Jackson clan and most if not all her friends, classmates, and family she grew up with are all gone. But those that do remember her remember how sweet, loving, compassionate and giving she was. A TRUE Christian woman who will be missed by all that knew her.
