John Mack Becton, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Magnolia. He was born May 17, 1926 in Bemis, TN to Jim and Christine (Brown) Becton. John was a charter member of First Apostolic Church of Magnolia and was the church secretary/treasurer.

John was a World War II veteran, having served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a Public Accountant with the state of Tennessee. He worked in the furniture manufacturing industry for about 50 years, with many of those years spent as the Controller for Alan White Company in Stamps, AR. John was a member of the Rotary Club for over 50 years and was recognized for that and named a Paul Harris Fellow in 2018 by the Stamps Rotary Club.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. John was a youthful, energetic 94-year-old.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife of over 69 years, Ordell Becton; one son, Jerry Mack Becton; two grandsons, David Becton II and Brett Becton; and brother and sister-in-law, Cleveland and Margie Becton.

Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Jane (David) Hill of Magnolia, AR; three sons, Rev. Gary (Glenda) Becton of Lumberton, TX; Rev. David (Gloria) Becton of Shreveport, LA; Rev. Jim (Pam)Becton of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, John Gary (Connie) Becton II, Shannon (Kevin) Brewer, Jerry (Angi) Becton, Shelly (Jacob) French, Jonathan (Aimee) Hill, Amanda Becton and Scott Farrar; seventeen great grandchildren, Scott (Alyssa), Mitchell and Alex Becton; Annie May (Clinton)Becton-Murphy and Phillip Beau Becton; Claire and Collin Brewer; Kaitlyn, Natalie and Corbin Hill; Michael (Deisha) and Nathan Muirhead; Jensen Crosswhite; Charity French; Jake, Jessie and Lily Becton; two great-great grandsons, Charlie John Becton and David Muirhead; extended family and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021, at R. L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Becton, Rev. David Becton, and Rev. Jim Becton officiating, assisted by Pastor Jeremy Motes. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR

Visitation will be Sunday January 3, 2021, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.

Pallbearers will be John Gary Becton II, Jerry Becton, Jonathan Hill, Kevin Brewer, Jacob French, and Jake Becton.
