Born April 5, 1930 in Rotterdam Junction, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Giacomina (Vespaziani) Caprara.
Anna was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools, graduating from the Union College School of Nursing at Albany Medical Center. She was one of the first women to do so.
After receiving her degree, she went on to enjoy a career of over 40 years at St. Claire’s Hospital in Schenectady, from where she retired as a Nursing Coordinator.
Anna was formerly a parishioner of Mount Carmel Church, St. Paul the Apostle Church and most recently of St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia. She was a former member of the St. Paul’s Seniors and Rosary Society.
Anna was an avid walker, enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and loved to garden and cook.
The memories that she cherished most were the ones spent with her family. Anna raised her three children on her own and was the best mom. The family enjoyed many summer vacations to Lake George and the Great Sacandaga Lake.
In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her infant son, Joseph Johnson; brothers, Anthony, Emery, Joseph, Emilio and Angelo; her sister, Edith, and her great grandson, Aiden.
Survivors include her loving children, William (Donna) Johnson of Albany, Anne Marie (David) Pigliavento of Rotterdam and Carol (Bob) Paniccia of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth (Scott), Matthew, Christina (Matt), Daniel (Dulce), Laura (Mike), David (Sherry) and Gregg; eight great-grandchildren and a host of several nieces, nephews and cousins.
