It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Aileen Virginia Chevrette (nee Maki), 81 years, due to cancer, on Sunday, December 27th, 2020 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of 60 years to Hector Chevrette (predeceased October 2020). Loving father of Craig Chevrette (wife Connie) and Mark Chevrette. Adored Granny to Olivia, Nicholas and Lexi. Dear daughter of Aili and Vili, both predeceased. Dear sister of Judy (Jack) Ascott and Len (Tracey) Maki. Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Always a strong advocate for education, Aileen started her career as a primary school teacher in Waters Township. Her later working years were spent at the Canada Revenue Agency, Sudbury. An avid reader, Aileen loved to buy new books, which she generously donated to local library. Crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp till the very end.

Aileen was brought to her family's camp on Black Lake as a newborn and was lucky enough to spend summers there throughout her life, eventually residing there permanently. Later in life, winters were spent travelling around in a motorhome, eventually settling in Holiday, Florida for part of the year.
Some of Aileen's fondest memories were dancing at the Elks Lodge, entertaining family and friends at the lake, and clinging onto Hector for dear life on the back of a snowmobile. Aileen was known for her delicious baking - butter tarts and prune tarts were family favorites.

Thank you to Health Sciences North, Dr, Ewing-Bui, Dr. Singh, Dr. Mathur, Chaplan Moulton, the nurses and especially the PSWs for their kindness, great care and compassion.

At Aileen's request, there will be no funeral visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Foundation, The MS Society of Canada, ALS Society of Canada or a charity of your choice in her memory. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
