Mr. Jessie Verlon Allen, 85, died December 23, 2020 at Sampson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Johnston county on October 9, 1935 to the late Jessie B. and Mary Ellen Allen. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Rayford Adams and sister-in-law Rose Allen.

Jessie served in the army from 1958 to 1960. After leaving the military he farmed alongside his daddy for a few years. He then started his career at I.B.M where he worked for 26 years before retiring. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A private graveside service will be held at Harnett Devotional Gardens.

He is survived by his wife Sue Smith Allen of the home. sons; Jeffery Allen of Dunn, Jason Allen (Corrine) of Rolesville, daughter; Jennifer Allen of Dunn, brother; Jerry Allen, sisters; Shirley Adams, Marie Raynor (Wendell), Sue Dawson (Don), grandchildren; Andrew Taylor, Justin Allen (Candace), Allyse Timberlake (Rhyne) Chelsey Welsh (Logan), Alex Smith, Cameron Allen, Caleb Potter, great-grandchildren; Maddie, Caiden, Jase, Mason, Savannah, Grayson, Maddox, and baby Welsh (2021); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A public viewing will be held Saturday from 1 to 2:30 pm at the funeral home. The family will not be present.
