Lawana Johnson, age 80, passed away December 26,2020 at her home in Arcadia, Louisiana.
She was born April 18, 1940 in Claiborne Parish to Jewel Kilpatrick and Effie Field Kilpatrick.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Effie Kilpatrick, husbands, Paul Hammon Sr. and Waymon Johnson, son, Rusty Johnson, grandsons, William Mathewes, and Aaron Dean, brothers, Jewel Kilpatrick Jr. and Billy John Kilpatrick, sister, Margaret McKinney and 3 daughters-in-law.
She is survived by her children, Ray Hammon and wife Libby, John Hammon, Danny Hammon, Mark Hammon, and wife Johnette, Weylin Johnson and wife Jeanette, Angie Johnson, and Rhonda Blake and fiancé, Keith Hollenshead, 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, sister, Barbara Ray, brother, Bobby Ray Kilpatrick, and wife Pat, daughter-in-law, Tana Johnson Neighbors.
Lawana was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in the Hurricane Community. She completed her GED and went to Certified Nursing Assistant school at the age of 55. She enjoyed her career as a CNA, she was a wonderful cook and loved quilting. She was a loving mother, and grandmother to all of her grands, great grands, and great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Ebarb, Kenny Hammon, Raymond Woodard, Keith Hollenshead, Chris Hayden, Robert Kilpatrick, Philip Kilpatrick, Josh Johnson, Wayne Johnson, and Seth Alden. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and the ladies of her Sunday school class at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Rose- Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Chapel in Arcadia. Interment to follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s.
