Cumberland—Carl Lewis “Buck” Bucklew, 79, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on April 28, 1941, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Marceline Bucklew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Bucklew, Richard Bucklew, and Dee Bucklew; sisters, Betty Rouseau and Frances Diaz; nephews, Richard and Stephen Bucklew.

Carl was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1959. He served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years. Once he retired from the Navy, Carl was employed by Fluor Engineering and Construction in Houston, TX. He later was employed by the State Department of Foreign Service. Through his work, he lived in Bahrain, Spain, Italy, Germany, four different countries in Africa, Greece, and London.

Carl enjoyed connecting with the friends he met in his assignments over Facebook. His wife referred him as the “opinionateor,” because Carl had an opinion about everything. He also enjoyed playing video poker.

Carl is survived by his wife, Cinda Sue (Nixon) Bucklew; daughter, Lisa Marie Higgins; granddaughter, Ashley Bourne and husband, Matthew; grandson, Jack Higgins; non-biological grandchildren, Skyla Kimble and Brooklyn Kimble; sister, Sonja Rennie. Carl is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Because of health considerations, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 1 P.M. with Chaplain Bruce McBride officiating.

In lieu of sending flowers, those wishing to honor Carl’s memory may do so by making contributions to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
