Eunita Carol Leake Abell, 82, widow of James Kenneth Abell, went home to eternal rest on Saturday, December 30, 2023. She was born in Dant Station, Kentucky on April 2, 1941 to the late Elizabeth Mallie Sapp Leake and Joseph Marion Leake.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Marsha Galene Riggle (Mark), Robert Glen Abell (Amy), Melissa Ann Curtsinger (Steve), and Jeffrey Wayne Abell (Ivana); her partner George Spalding; her brother Frank Leake; her sister Joan Gaily Flaugh; her grandchildren Chad and Kaelin Curtsinger, Chase Riggle, Jordan Semder, Janson and Luka Abell, Hannah and Brandon(Gretchen) Abell ; her great grandchildren Grace and Faith Abell, Miles and Hudson Semder, Bella and Cooper Seaman, and Nick Curtsinger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, James; and her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph; Carol was preceded in death by her brothers Willard, Durben, Pete, and Buck Leake; and her sisters Peggy, Doris, and Darlene Leake.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, January 8, 2023 at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, East Louisville, 12900 Shelbyville Rd. Fr. Leon Spalding will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7th from 12:00pm until 5:00pm at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, East.
