Ethel Lorraine Stemen, age 93, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020. She was born to Earl & Marguerite Otto on February 10, 1927 in Bethlehem, PA. She married Dewey Arnold Stemen on July 16, 1949 and together they traveled the country during his career with the US Navy, eventually ending up in the Jacksonville area. She was a longtime member of Lakeshore United Methodist Church and also enjoyed memberships with German American Club, Club 60 Dance Club, the German American Club Volks Danzers, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, and the Lakeshore Garden Club. She also served as a Republican Poll Worker. Mrs. Stemen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Dewey A. Stemen, and 9 of her siblings. She is survived by 2 children: Dewey “Kim” Stemen (Kay) and Mark Allan Stemen (Connie); 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Michelle Soellner (Phillip), Justin Galen Stemen (Sarah), and Aaron Marshall Beaugh Stemen (Christina); 7 great-grandchildren: Isla, Nola, James, Tristan, Tyler, Lily, and Tanner; and her sister, Louise Reppert.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early and park in procession lane 2.
