ROBERT E. GEESAMAN, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home on Homestead Road, Fort Wayne. Born in 1925, in Portland, Ind., he was the son of James L. Geesaman and Adah-belle Geesaman. He was a 1943 graduate of Central High School and attended DeVry Technical University. In 1944, he met Mary E. Emenhiser and together they began a 60 year adventure in marriage on Sept. 28, 1947. He had many interests during his lifetime. He was a Boy Scout leader, church choir member, coach of a church basketball team, and played in a community orchestra. In addition, he taught Sunday school and confirmation classes, and was a Sunday school superintendent for Simpson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, watching football, and talking with people. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and was actively involved in each one's special interests. His four month old great-grandson was his delight. He had jobs with the News~Sentinel and Sears before he began working for what was then called the Pennsylvania Railroad. His work for the railroad lasted for more than 40 years. He retired in 1987 as a supervisor. He resided at Arbor Glen Retirement Center with his wife Mary. During his stay there, he was asked to be a deacon and he accepted that role with his usual grace. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons and their wives; eight grandchildren and their wives and husbands; and recently his first great-grandson. They are Ken of Noblesville and his son, Joshua of Indianapolis; Kerry (Sue) of Greenwood and their children, Kory (Rachael) of Fort Worth, Texas and Lindsey (Andy) of Greenwood; Kevin (Stacy) of Fort Wayne and their children, Whitney of Fort Wayne and Tyler of Fort Wayne; Karl (Debbie) of Leesburg, Ala. and their children, Adam (Cameron) and great-grandson, Austin Edward of Noblesville; Aric of Indianapolis; and Allison of Leesburg, Ala. In addition, he had two brothers and a sister; Jim Geesaman (deceased), Will Geesaman of Leesburg, Fla. and and Pat Snyder of Oregon, Ill. Service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Russ Abel officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial in North Scipio Cemetery.
