He was a former first sergeant in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox who served in World War II and Korea, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Hite Lentz, on March 27, 1999, in Elizabethtown.
Survivors include four sisters, Polly "Lola" Hoover and Lorraine Rutter, both of Lebanon, Pa., and Emma Reid and Charlotte Wilson, both of Curwensville, Pa.; a brother, John Lentz of Tyrone, Pa.; two sons, Garry and Dale of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.
Care Cremation & Funeral Service in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made in Allen"s name to a local animal shelter.
