Don't know if his middle name was Monroe or Madison or maybe even Malcon, but still searching.

My best information has James' parents as; John J. Scoggins b. about 1800 in SC. and Mary Ann "Annie" Nelms. they were married April 15, 1829 in Green Co. Georgia. They split up for unknown reasons died or divorced, but Annie, I see, moved to Texas and married Uriah Felton and had a daughter, Harriet. I haven't sourced this info out, but still searching.

James married Martha E. Lovin on 12-28-1871.
James was a C.S.A. veteran, in the 1st Miss. Light Artillery
Company L in "Vaidens Arty".

James had some brothers, Robert D. Scoggins C.S.A. and K.I.A.
was buried in a mass grave at Sandy Hook, KY.

James had another brother, Levi W. Scoggins (b.3-22-1844 d. 12-4 1910) that married James' wife's sister, Emma Jane Lovin (b.1856 and d.1929) on Oct. 19, 1871. Two brothers marrying two sisters.

James' sons were;
James Benson Scoggins 2-13-1873 to 6-10-1933; married Delia J. Gregg, 12-21-1887 to 7-4-1958, on 1-9-1904 in Montgomery Co. MS. Both buried at Old Plank Church cemetery
in Carroll Co. MS.

Benjamin Robert "Benny" Scoggins 10-10-1877 to 2-21-1957 married Rose Anna Parkerson 11-24-1879 to 11-14-1958 both died in Hinds Co. MS. Married on 5-8-1898. Both buried at French Camp MS

Levi Mooreman Scoggins 6-9-1882 to 4-28-1951 married Kate E. Scarbourough 8-10-1883 to 2-25-1948 both buried in Carroll Co. MS. Married on May or Aug. 5, 1902 in Attala Co. MS

James had one daughter Sarah Annie Scoggins 7-19-1875 to
9-29-1892 and is buried at Old Plank Church cemetery in Carroll Co. MS, southeast of Vaiden.
