A. Mark Chacon
December 29, 1931 - November 23, 2020

Born in Phoenix, AZ and a longtime resident of the Sacramento region, A. Mark passed away at the age of 88 after a long illness. He served in the U.S. Navy on a submarine during the Korean War and, after graduating from San Diego State University, he was a news anchor and show host for Channel 8 News in San Diego. He worked in public relations and later retired from the California Assembly Office of Research.

He was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle who had many interests, including the outdoors, gardening and music. Greatly loved by his family, A. Mark is survived by his children: Maria Chacon Kniestedt, Cara (Rob) Chacon-Bent, Sara Chacon Peschke, Frances Chacon, Thomas (Bess) Chacon and Katie Chacon; by his grandchildren: Zach, Sadye, Roman, Ella, Rory, Ben, Dylan and Hazel; and by his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Petronilo and Severita Chacon, and he was the last in a long line of brothers and sisters: Sarah Yslas, Lupe Gonzales, Mary Hernandez, Peter R. Chacon, Joe Chacon and David Chacon, as well as Max Mora, Nellie Zapien, Perfecto Mora, Lia Mora, Bennie Mora, Barbara Chacon, Leo Chacon, Fannie Chacon, Ynocencio Chacon, Andrea Chacon de Salari, Della Stelzer, Rosaria Chacon CSJ, Philip Chacon, Louis Chacon, and Tessie Chacon.

Due to the pandemic, the Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial on December 12, 2020 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Citrus Heights, CA will be private. In remembrance of A. Mark, donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, Hispanic Apostolate Ministry, 7817 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights, CA 95610.
