Florine Minna (Behrends) Hanz, 87, of Houston Tx passed away on December 20, 2020. Florine was born in Fredericksburg Texas on September 24, 1933. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School. Florine was married to Melvin Hanz on April 28, 1962. They were married for 58 years. Florine’s lifelong career centered around her family and working for Cypress Fairbanks school district and the church. She enjoyed playing board and card games, sewing, gardening, listening and dancing to polka music, and watching birds. She was also actively involved over the years in St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Florine is survived by a son and two daughters, Kavin Hanz and fiancé Yvette, Denise and husband Eric Caldwell, Brenda and husband Ronnie Elmore, one sister-in-law Virginia Hanz, eleven grandchildren Justin and wife Layne Hanz, Megan and husband Omar Garcia, Chelsie Crosson, Ericson and wife Amber Caldwell, Edison and wife Mollie Caldwell, Skylar Elmore, Breanna Elmore, Katye and fiancé Cole Mehlbrech, and Kyle Roth, and seven great-grandchildren plus one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Florine is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Hanz, parents Max and Anna Behrends, two brothers Clarence Behrends, and Curtis Behrends and a brother-in-law Alton Hanz.
A Visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00pm at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 9:00am at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home. Burial will be Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 3:00pm at Der Stadt Freidhof in Fredericksburg, Texas.
