Marguerite Helen Barnes-Ferschweiler was the daughter of Joseph S Barnes, Sr and Mary M Hattery. Marguerite married Kenneth Joseph Ferschweiler in 1942 and they had three children: Eileen, Keith and Brian. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the rosary and Mass of Chritian Burial for Marguerite Ferschweiler of Southeast Portland will be said Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church.

Mrs. Ferschweiler died Sunday of cancer in a Southeast Portland retirement home. She was 71.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1919, in Portland, and attended Cleveland High School and Marylhurst College. Her maiden name was Barnes.

She was employed in the office of the Waitresses Union Local No. 11 for 40 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Milwaukie Elkettes, serving as president from 1974-75, and was treasurer of the Holy Family Altar Society. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 41 years.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ken; daughter Eileen Brown of Gladstone; sons Brian Ferschweiler of Milwaukie and Keith Ferschweiler of Salisbury, Md.; brother Vincent Barnes of Portland; and five grandchildren.

Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, 11666 S.E. Stevens Road.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Portland Adventist Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
